Here's
a few pictures of the car while it is still over in Brussels Belgium,
before it arrived here in Toronto, Canada (June 26, 2001).
I
bought this car through E-bay for $530.00 US. It will cost about
$1000.00 US to get this car to my driveway in Toronto.
It's a cheap, economical, boxy, oddball of a collector car.
A grocery getter as the seller in Europe calls it.

This is a
1972 Kadett B 1100N 2-DR sedan. Over here in N.America
this car had a different look and trim package by '68, and was based
on the Olympia which was a larger car. So in realitly (not the right
word when thinking Kadett) this car is more like a 1967 Opel Kadett
that was sold on these shores. This will be an interesting car amongst
fellow Opellers here in Toronto, as most are into GT's or 1900's.
I'm just glad it's not a Vauxhall Viva, or Oldsmobile Firenza.
Hey at least it's the original paint and it's all intact i.e. unrestored.

I don't know
about you, but the more I stare at this car the more
my eyes and brain say "it's kinda different in a utilitarian sorta
way".

A grocery
getter needs a good sized trunk, which this has along
with the popular Euro spec rear bumper mounted red fog lamp.

The lowly
heart of the car, the 1.1 Litre, single carb. Should be
good for about 28mpg at a top speed of 130kph (80mph).
I can see find myself bombing along the 401, right lane of course.

Spartan, is
one word that comes to mind. Doesn't even have a
radio, you can see the delete plate still on the dash below the
center air vents. I wonder what the red button on the left side
of the dash fascia is for, perhaps the nitrous system.lol

Yes that's
the original headliner, looks ok from this angle.
At least it's not cardboard like my old 1976 Ford F-100.

Just imagine
that red vinyl on a bright sunny day, with matching
twin satin black stripes on the hood and along the belt-line,
can you say "RALLYE".
Here's a useable
set of 4 Rostyle 13-inch wheels
manufactured by Lemmerz that I'll be installing.
These along with the satin black stripes will give
the car a "Go Fast" image that eventually with
some mild engine mods, and the essential set of
front bumper mounted auxiliary driving lamps just
might be able to break some wind, in a cheesy sorta way.

Whadda ya
think, a nice wood rallye steering wheel
to replace the black plastic thingy ma jigger.

Sitt'n on
the dock of the bay. Waiting to be loaded
on the ship at Zeebrugge, Belgium, May 30 2001.
Note all the new Volvos in the back, they are now
the bread and butter cars that this one used to be.
Note

Look ma no
hub caps! All the easily removable trim
has been stuffed either in the trunk or under the rear
seat. Why? Well this is an exotic rare car after all.

Here's the
shipping label attached to the rear side glass.
Hard to believe that that scan code will get it to the right
seaport in Halifax within the next 2 weeks.
